2022 South Dakota Legislative Session Center for the Prevention of Child Maltreatment Week 9 Update – March 7-11, 2022
Lawmakers left Pierre this year after passing a budget that gives 6% raises to educators, state employees and healthcare providers, proposals that were priorities of Gov. Kristi Noem for the upcoming fiscal year. They used COVID relief money for one-time spending that allocated additional money to future prison construction, court-appointed special advocates, literacy programs and nursing homes. Legislators also voted to fund $200 million in housing and infrastructure grants.
The final state budget was $5.8 billion.
