Empowering South Dakota Children & Families

Join us January 11, 2023 for Children’s Day at the Capitol! Annually, organizations with an interest in bettering the lives of children and families will gather during the legislative session to inform the public, lawmakers, government staff and other advocates about our work.

Agenda

9:30 am: Attend legislative committee meetings and network with lawmakers

9:30 am to 4:00 pm: Vendor booths in the Rotunda

11:00 am: Lunch in the Rotunda (All are invited)

11:45 am: Short program in the Rotunda

  • Welcome by Michelle Lavallee, Chief Executive Officer, Children’s Home Society of South Dakota
  • Creating Community Capacity by Cassie Nagel, Education & Public Awareness Specialist, Children’s Home Society of South Dakota
  • Closing by Carrie Sanderson, Director, Center for the Prevention of Child Maltreatment

12:30 pm: Group photo on Rotunda stairs following program

2:00 pm: Children’s Day participants announced in House and Senate chambers

4:00 pm to 9:00 pm: Evening reception at Drifter’s Bar and Grille, short program at 6:00 pm
