SUMMARY:Understanding ACEs
DESCRIPTION:This free training is open to everyone via Zoom, with registration required. It will be offered on the third Tuesday of every other month starting January 16 from 6:30pm-8:30pm CT (5:30pm-7:30pm MT) through training partner Children’s Home Society.\nUnderstanding ACEs: Building Self-Healing Communities\nThe Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study findings represent a paradigm shift in human understanding of the origins of physical, social, mental, and societal health and well-being. We now know that leading causes of disease and disability, learning and productivity problems, and early death have their roots in the cumulative neurodevelopmental impacts of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).\nThe key goal of this training is to build a common language and understanding of ACEs and the related research. Attendees will be encouraged to think about how this information could be applied within their own “sphere of influence” (family, workplace, school, community, etc.).\nIn this session, you will:\n• Understand how brains adapt to the environment during childhood.\n• Learn the basic concepts of toxic stress and its impact on development.\n• Review the data and key findings from the Adverse Childhood Experiences Study\n• Discover the framework for building resiliency for individuals and communities.\nDates:\n\nJanuary 16\nMarch 19\nMay 21\nJuly 16\nSeptember 17\nNovember 19\n\n
