Michael Hall, M.Ed., Strong Fathers-Strong Families\nJ. Michael Hall, M.Ed. is the father of two sons who are high school teachers. Mr. Hall has been a special education teacher, a teacher of the gifted and talented, and an intermediate and middle school principal. As an educator, speaker and founder of Strong Fathers-Strong Families, he has presented to more than 200,000 fathers and parents at local schools, Head Starts, and regional and national conferences.\nMike has worked with over 300 schools in Texas and in over 42 states with Head Starts. He works daily with schools and facilitates all events in English and Spanish.\nHe has written magazine articles for the National PTA, The Southwestern Educational Development Laboratory, and The National Head Start Association’s Children and Family Magazine. He is also a contributing author to the book on fathering entitled Why Fathers Count, and is considered one of the country’s foremost experts on working with fathers in schools and Head Starts.\nFor his pioneering work over the past twenty years in education he was recently honored as a 2012 White House Champion of Change for his work in the fatherhood field around the nation.\n \n Kelly Bass, DSW, MSW, LCSW-PIP, ACS, University of South Dakota\nKelly Bass is an experienced educator, as well as an outstanding licensed certified social worker who has provided professional service for several agencies including private practice. Bass’s research and scholarly interests are focused on social work practice, clinical license supervision, and interventions for improving outcomes for vulnerable, marginalized populations and integrating community and institutional interventions and service delivery. These interests stem from his experiences providing mental health services and managing the implementation of Evidence-based Practices within a community mental health center setting. Bass has procured grant funding from the Association of Social Work Board and been a collaborator on the USD TeleECHO-Opioid Response grant through South Dakota Social Services and the Child and Adult Advocacy training grant through the South Dakota Department of Education and the National Child Welfare Workforce Institute. Most recently procured grant funding Health Resources and Services Administration for workforce development in mental health practice.
