Jay Memmott, Ph.D., has worked as a social worker in inpatient and outpatient mental
health and substance abuse treatment settings, hospice and home health care,
managed mental health care, and private practice. In addition, he has served as a
behavior health care consultant in a corporate setting assisting large hospital systems
establish and maintain behavioral health care programs across the United States. Very
early in his social work career, Dr. Memmott worked with incestuous family systems. In
1992, he served as the Persian Gulf Family Support Program Coordinator in Oklahoma.
Over the years, Dr. Memmott has acquired extensive experience assisting clients and
their families with various forms of trauma. Jay’s current research and scholarly
interests include health and mental health literacy, substance abuse treatment and
recovery, natural helping, and cognitive/emotional/behavioral/spiritual change.
