Our Services

The Center for the Prevention of Child Maltreatment partners with state agencies, Tribal nations, nonprofits, schools, health systems, and community coalitions across South Dakota to strengthen the systems that keep children safe and families supported. Whether you are launching something new, improving an existing program, or looking for resources to make an idea possible, our team brings research expertise, practical experience, and statewide relationships to the table.

Program Evaluation

We help organizations understand what is working and why. Our team designs and conducts process and outcome evaluations, develops logic models and theories of change, builds data collection tools, and translates findings into clear, usable reports for staff, boards, and funders.

Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement

We support agencies in building strong quality assurance practices, including case review protocols, fidelity monitoring, performance measures, and continuous quality improvement (CQI) processes that align with state and federal standards.

Program Development and Implementation Support

Have an idea for a new program or service? We assist with needs assessments, model selection, program design, policies and procedures, staffing structures, and implementation planning so new initiatives launch on solid ground and are built to last.

Funding Strategy and Grant Partnership

We help partners identify and pursue funding to support child welfare and prevention projects. Services include funding research, braiding and blending federal, state, and philanthropic resources, proposal development, and serving as an evaluation partner or subrecipient on grant applications.

Project Planning and Management

We provide hands-on support to move projects from planning to completion, including work plans, timelines, stakeholder engagement, progress tracking, and reporting.

Data & Research

We help partners make sense of data, from community needs and outcome trends to how funding for children and families flows across systems, so decisions are grounded in evidence.

Training and Technical Assistance

We offer training and coaching for professionals and organizations on child maltreatment prevention, trauma-informed practice, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and evidence-based approaches.

Collaboration and Facilitation

As South Dakota's hub for child maltreatment prevention, we convene and facilitate cross-system workgroups, strategic planning sessions, and community conversations that bring the right people together around shared goals.

Let's Work Together

Every partnership looks a little different. If you are interested in working with CPCM or want to talk through an idea, we would love to hear from you. Contact us at cpcm@usd.edu.
