Senator Reed Elected as Center for the Prevention of Child Maltreatment Advisory Board Chair
Senator Tim Reed (District 7) was elected as Advisory Board Chair for the Center for the Prevention of Child Maltreatment during the April 2025 board meeting. Reed, has served on the Advisory Board since 2020 and previously served as Board Chair in 2021-2022.
Prior to Senator’s Reed election to the Legislature, he served in Brookings City Government for 18 years, including as Mayor. In his time in the SD Legislature, Senator Reed has been instrumental in passing legislation to address needs around mental health care, sex trafficking, childcare, and sexual assault and he currently serves on the Health and Human Services and Local Government committees. Reed recently retired as CEO of the Brookings Economic Development Corporation.
“CPCM has established a foundation of working across multiple disciplines to better our state’s response to child maltreatment and strengthen our prevention strategies,” stated Reed. “The work will continue to utilize national best practices and aim to end child maltreatment in our state.”
Center for the Prevention of Child Maltreatment’s Advisory Board includes leaders from state agencies, service providers, and community advocates. The Advisory Board provides guidance on the Center’s execution of a multi-year strategic plan and mission to end child maltreatment in South Dakota.
