ECCS Touchpoints Webinar: Businesses for Babies: Strategies to Support South Dakota’s Youngest Families

What is a touchpoint?

A child’s brain undergoes rapid development during the first three years of life, making this period crucial for their overall growth. Each new brain connection formed during this time has been referred to as a “touchpoint,” which is why we named our informational webinar series after this important milestone in a child’s development. Through these hour-long, interactive webinars, our goal is to help you create your own touchpoints across South Dakota, contributing to the healthy development of all the state’s children.

Businesses for Babies: Strategies to Support South Dakota’s Youngest Families

Join Chrissie Young, Director of the University of South Dakota’s Center for the Prevention of Child Maltreatment (CPCM), for an inspiring webinar on “Businesses for Babies: Strategies to Support South Dakota’s Youngest Families.” This session explores how employers can strengthen their communities and workforce by adopting family-friendly policies and practices that help parents and caregivers thrive. Participants will learn practical, evidence-based strategies—such as flexible scheduling, paid leave, lactation support, and partnerships with local childcare and health initiatives—that promote employee well-being and improve retention. These approaches are powerful examples of primary prevention, reducing stressors that can lead to family instability while ensuring a strong start for all children. Discover how businesses can play a vital role in building healthier, more resilient communities across South Dakota.
