eSANE: The Impact of Clients with Different Immigration Statuses Access to Services Available
In this session:
- Participants will be able to understand the history of immigration law.
- Participants will have a basic understanding of family-based immigration law, employment-based immigration law, and humanitarian based immigration law.
- Participants will have a basic understanding that not all community clients will have access to services in SD.
- Participants will have a basic understanding on accessibility to services in SD for clients with varying immigration statuses.
- Participants will have a basic understanding of organizations in SD who assist with immigration status.
Trainer: Taneeza Islam, CEO, Immigration Lawyer & Co-Founder at SD Voices for Peace and SD Voices for Justice
Taneeza Islam has been practicing immigration law in SD since 2013. She co-founded SD Voices for Peace (SDVFP) in 2017 and launched the state’s only free immigration legal services to victims of crimes and minors in immigration court. SD Voices for Peace has 4 main programming areas: Legal Services, Multilingual Community Outreach and Civic Engagement, Education and Training, and Rapid Response.
