Resilient Communities: Adverse Childhood Experiences & Resiliency

Training opportunity co-hosted by Resilient Community Codington County, Codington Connects, Children’s Home Society, and Center for the Prevention of Childhood Maltreatment.

Training will focus on how ACEs can impact all areas of a child’s life, leading to poor physical, mental, and behavioral outcomes in adulthood. Participants will learn more about how childhood stress and today’s stress as adults can cause chemical disruptions in the brain, impeding development of children and adults. When a child has lived in a constant state of fight or flight, the regular release of adrenaline and cortisol buildup into toxic stress, which redirects more resources to the survival part of the brain.
