Recognizing and Reporting Child Maltreatment

This one hour training module is intended for mandatory reporters and others interested in the safety and well-being of children in South Dakota. Learners will review the impact of adverse childhood experiences on well-being, explore maltreatment types and associated warning signs, review child maltreatment state statutes, detail the process of reporting in South Dakota, and understand the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to child maltreatment and prevention. The module is five sessions with a short assessment following each session. Learners must watch the full video and correctly complete each assessment before moving on to additional sessions. A certificate of completion will be available following the training completion.

The content within this training may be difficult to hear at times and may bring up emotional responses for some people. Please take care of that emotion in a way that is good for you, which may include: take a break, move around, doodle, grab a snack or glass of water, listen to background music, etc. If you need additional help or resources, please visit the Helpline Center at https://www.helplinecenter.org/.
