Fatherhood Training Series Wraps Up

The fatherhood training series will wrap up this month with:

  • July 10: Cultural Competency and Diversity in Fatherhood presented by Jillian Baker, The Center for Parent and Teen Communication
  • July 17: Policy and Structural Factors for Support Fathers presented by Dan Wuori, Early Childhood Policy Solutions

eSANE Training Series Features National and Local Experts

More than 100 South Dakota professionals and advocates who provide care and support to sexual assault victims have attended the first 4 training sessions in an ongoing eSANE Project series. Registration is required for these online sessions and registrants will receive access to training recordings when made available. Among the sessions happening in the next month is a two-day session from The Training Institute on Strangulation Prevention at Alliance for HOPE International. They will be presenting Strangulation: The Last Warning Shot on August 14-15.

  • July 12: Understanding the Nexus of Violence and the Science of Addiction presented by Christina Love, Indigenous Storyteller, Survivor, Multi-Level Advocate
  • July 17: Domestic Abuse & Civil Legal Considerations presented by Tracey Decker, JD & Krista Heeren-Graber, BSW, MS, LBSW, SD Network Against Family Violence and Sexual Assault
  • July 24: Victims’ Rights 101 for Medical Personnel presented by Amy Liu and Rebecca Khalil, National Crime Victim Law Institute
  • July 25: The Impact of Clients with Different Immigration Statuses Access to Services Available presented by Taneeza Islam, SD Voices for Peace
  • July 31: Victims of Violence with Disabilities presented by Aimee Deliramich, Ph.D. and Nikki Eining, MSW, CSW-PIP, QMHP from USD Center for Disabilities
  • August 7: Protecting Survivors’ Privacy and Other Rights in Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration presented by Amy Liu and Rebecca Khalil, National Crime Victim Law Institute
  • August 14-15: Strangulation: The Last Warning Shot presented by Gael Strack and Joe Bianco, Alliance for HOPE International

End Online Child Abuse

CPCM is developing sustainable solutions to reduce all forms of child maltreatment in South Dakota, beginning with child sexual abuse. We’re compiling information and resources at SDCPCM.com to raise awareness of the importance of online child safety.

Real Friends Don’t, presented by The McCain Institute at Arizona State University includes resources for parents and teens. We recommend their Know the Platforms for information on which sites and platforms kids and teens are most active on.

WIC CIAO Project Learning Opportunities

Service providers working with families with young children are invited by CPCM and training providers to free learning opportunities. Full session details and registration is available at SDCPCM.com/WIC

7/11: Poverty Simulation in Sioux Falls

Cultural Competency Series In-Person

Service providers working with families with young children in the Sioux Falls-area are invited by CPCM and LSS to a free in-person training series. This training series will be held at The Coliseum, 515 N Main Ave in Sioux Falls on Thursdays from 11:30am to 1:00pm. Attendees are invited to bring their own lunch or lunch will be available onsite for purchase.
